Moorhouse (1826-1915) succeeded Charles Perry as Anglican Bishop of Melbourne in 1876, and was the motivating force behind the choice of William Butterfield to design the new St Paul’s Cathedral (begun in 1880).
In 1886, Moorhouse left unexpectedly to become Bishop of Manchester, where he remained until 1903.

For details, see SLV catalogue as noted above; the Library is yet to add a modern photograph. Many thanks to SLV librarian Gerard Hayes (email correspondence, October 2026) for advising that this work is indeed in the Library’s collection (contrary to the suggestion in an earlier version of this catalogue entry)
