Works included in this catalogue
Burn, who migrated to Australia in 1853, painted a number of early Melbourne images, several included in the pre-Felton collection.
Other examples, acquired later, are held in the NGV and elsewhere in Melbourne.
For details on the artist, and a list of his extant works (including several further examples also held in the SLV, acquired after 1905), see Patricia Reynolds, “A Note on Henry Burn, 1807?-1884,” The La Trobe Journal no.11, April 1973, pp.49-59: http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/latrobejournal/issue/latrobe-11/t1-g-t1.html.
