Gilbert, documented as working in Australia from 1841 onwards, is plausibly suggested by the SLV as the author of this view of the Ballarat gold-fields; see also Gilbert (G.) [attrib.] Grant Street, Ballaarat 1856 {1889} SLV [DR], apparently by the same hand.
