National Gallery of Victoria (p.183.178-1)

This print, inscribed ‘Nanteuil’ in pencil, reproduces (in reverse) a 1658 engraving, altering some details.

Nanteuil was famous for his portraits of the king and other contemporaries during the first part of the king’s reign. The NGV collection contains a number of his autograph engravings, acquired later, including portraits of Richelieu, Mazarin, Colbert and the king himself (1664).
