This work is listed in the 1865 NGV catalogue (with the details noted above), but not thereafter.

The donor may have been John Moore Cole Airey (c.1811-93), the member for Port Phillip in the NSW Legislative council, 1847-48. Aireys Inlet in Victoria is named after him (he settled the area in 1842).
