Fahey The Farm 1890 {1892} NGV [WT]

Fahey, the son of landscape painter James Fahey (1804-85), is described in NGV 1894 and 1905 as a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-Colours.

Both works in the pre-Felton NGV were bought from the 1892 Anglo-Australian Exhibition held in Melbourne. Other examples appear occasionally at auction in England.

For other examples of Fahey’s work, see, and Mallalieu (1976), p.96, observes, equivocally enough, that “his work can be very pretty”; see also Bénézit 5, pp.411-12 and AKL 36 (2003), p.222
