This is one of several collections of photographs purchased for the Melbourne Public Library in 1860 from the Architectural Photographic Association (for details, see artist entry under Fenton).

Besides Fenton and Bedford, others represented include British photographers Robert Cade, Archibald Lewis Cocke and Dolamore & Bullock (active c.1855-69: see reference below). Several photos are unattributed, and only some are dated.
