This straightforward landscape was bought from the Victorian Artists’ Society (see also Withers Tranquil Winter 1895 {1895} NGV [PA] etc.). The frame is a contemporary production by the Melbourne firm of W.& G.Dean.

Works by the painter (whose name is sometimes given as Taylor-Ghee) still appear regularly at auction, generally selling for modest prices.
