Jackson is documented as the author of a number of wood engravings published in The Illustrated Melbourne Post and elsewhere in the mid 1860s (refer SLV catalogue). However, little else appears to be known about him.
The three watercolour portraits of colonial governors listed here were all commissioned from him in 1873-4, all apparently to serve as models for new additions to the Public Library’s “Oval Portrait” series (see linked entry).
